Assistant Professor Talena Sanders is close to wrapping up filming on a documentary feature exploring a unique spin on an important part of indigenous Mexican culture.

Sanders is about to make the final of several trips to the remote town of Huauchinango in the Sierra Norte region of Mexico. Her all-female crew has been following the lives of female voladoras. Voladoras are performers in the Danza de los Voladoras ritual ceremony, a daring and meaningful performance previously performed only by men.

Watch for her upcoming interview on this site about the film and what attracted her to this project.
