Paul Gutierrez joined ESPN’s NFL Nation Network in 2013 and serves as its Las Vegas Raiders reporter. He has a multi-platform role – writing on ESPN.com, television appearances on NFL Live and SportsCenter, and podcast and radio appearances. The 2016 season marked Gutierrez’s return to the Raiders beat after covering the San Francisco 49ers the two seasons prior.

Before coming to ESPN, Gutierrez spent three years at CSN Bay Area as a multi-platform reporter, covering the Raiders and Oakland Athletics as well as anchoring the SportsNet Central cable news show.

Gutierrez has also worked as a features writer and columnist for The Sacramento Bee, covering the San Francisco Bay Area’s sports teams, including the Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, A’s, San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors for five years and was at the Los Angeles Times for six years prior. In Los Angeles, Gutierrez covered the Dodgers, Angels, USC football and basketball, boxing and Major League Soccer.

He has also worked at the Las Vegas Review-Journal, covering UNLV basketball, and as a reporter at Sports Illustrated in New York City.

Gutierrez, a former Baseball Writers’ Association of America San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area chapter president, votes for the Baseball Hall of Fame voted for the Baseball Hall of Fame from 2011 through 2023. He is also a member of the Pro Football Writers of America, serving as Las Vegas chapter chair from 2020-24, and previously voted for the Associated Press NFL Awards. In 2024, Gutierrez became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee. and is also a member of the Professional Football Writers of America, and currently serving as the PFWA’s Las Vegas chapter president. He is also a member of the California Chicano News Media Association and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

The Barstow Community College and UNLV graduate is a Freedom Forum Chips Quinn Scholar and Sports Journalism Institute alum. Gutierrez grew up in the Southern California high desert town of Barstow, where he began his sports journalism career as a junior college stringer at his hometown Desert Dispatch.

Gutierrez was selected as the 2024 Exceptional Alumni Award recipient from Barstow Community College. This prestigious accolade celebrates outstanding individuals who have demonstrated remarkable achievements and contributions to their profession, community, and society at large.

His 2023 ESPN.com article on Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby’s “obsession for greatness” won a PFWA Dick Connor Writing Award, taking first place in the Lesley Visser Enterprise News/Features division.

Gutierrez has authored three books: Tommy Davis’ Tales from the Dodgers Dugout, 100 Things Raiders Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die and If These Walls Could Talk: Stories from the Raiders Sideline, Locker Room and Press Box with Lincoln Kennedy.

His wife, Amy, is a social media reporter, producer and ambassador for the San Francisco Giants, and they have two teenage children.
