COMMUNICATION INTERN (UNPAID) INTERN DESCRIPTION

Napa County Communications Intern!

As a Communications intern, you will serve as a storyteller for Napa County, helping share the

programs, services, and initiatives that impact our community every day. You’ll work directly

with the Countywide Communications team to support the organization’s communications,

public information, and marketing efforts.

This unpaid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in

government communications, build a portfolio, receive mentorship from experienced

communications professionals, and make a meaningful impact on the community. Students

may be eligible to receive academic credit through their educational institution.

Key Responsibilities:

 Create content for a variety of platforms, including news releases, social media, and

website content

 Support public outreach and community engagement campaigns

 Monitor media coverage and assist with responding to media inquiries

 Attend events and meetings to gather content, take photos, and support

communications efforts

Schedule:

 Flexible schedule of approximately 16-24 hours per week during the academic year

and/or summer.

Qualifications:

 Education: Current SSU student

 Academic Credit: While this is an unpaid internship, students may be eligible for academic credit through SSU for the fall.

 Strong written and verbal communication skills

 Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication trends

 Interest in public service, government communications, journalism, public relations,

marketing, or a related field

 Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment

 Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable, but not required
