"We are seeking a Fall Programming Intern to assist our Artistic Director, Carl, with the selection and curation of films for our upcoming festival season. This role offers hands-on experience in the programming process and a unique behind-the-scenes look at how a major international film festival comes together.
Responsibilities Include:
Reviewing and evaluating film submissions
Writing clear, concise, and insightful coverage (film summaries and critical assessments)
Supporting data entry and organizational tasks in programming databases
Researching filmmakers, themes, and film history relevant to submissions
Attending internal programming discussions and screenings
Assisting with program curation, category development, and festival prep
Helping draft content for program guides and internal communications
Desired Qualifications:
Strong writing and critical thinking skills—coverage writing is essential
Passion for film, particularly independent and international cinema
High attention to detail and ability to manage tasks independently
Comfort with spreadsheets, Google Workspace, and platforms like FilmFreeway
A collaborative, dependable, and professional attitude
Timeline & Hours:
