As a content creator and storyteller, the Digital Communications Coordinator helps drive university communications through compelling narratives, dynamic email campaigns, engaging digital content, and a Sonoma State University podcast. This student-centered role helps create authentic peer-to-peer content and supports cross-channel communications that foster awareness, engagement, and meaningful connections across the campus community.
Blending creativity with strategy, this position provides hands-on experience in digital marketing and communications, multimedia storytelling, website coordination, enrollment marketing, and content development while contributing to initiatives that elevate the student experience, support prospective student engagement, and strengthen university pride.
Job Description:
- Develop engaging content using a student-focused tone and voice that resonates with current and prospective students.
- Support marketing initiatives by creating communications and campaigns that promote university programs, events, student life, and the student experience.
- Write, design, and distribute Seawolf Living email campaigns that support communication and engagement goals.
- Maintain the Seawolf Living events website, ensuring content is current, accessible, visually engaging, and aligned with university brand standards.
- Adapt messaging and copywriting for specific target audiences across multiple platforms and departments, including prospective students, current students, families, and campus partners.
- Assist with creating and maintaining integrated marketing and communications calendars.
- Support the planning, execution, and evaluation of communication campaigns, including tracking engagement and analyzing results to inform future strategies.
- Contribute to multimedia projects by developing creative concepts, writing scripts, assisting with media production, and participating as on-screen talent.
- Assist with a brand new university podcast by coordinating guests, organizing production timelines, supporting content planning, editing the podcast and promotional materials, and helping promote episodes across university communication channels.
- Serve as a brand ambassador to strengthen awareness and visibility for the university and enhance connections with prospective and current students.
- Collaborate on additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or digital media with a focus on copywriting or content creation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write, proofread, and edit clear, engaging, and audience-focused content.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for storytelling, digital content creation, podcasting, and multimedia communications.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and project coordination abilities.
- Strong intercultural fluency and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and equitable work environment.
