Position Description

The Communications Intern will be responsible for building, managing, and growing Reuse Alliance’s social media accounts.  This includes helping to develop social media strategy in alignment with Reuse Alliance’s outreach goals and a social media calendar for the length of the internship.  The communications intern will also be responsible for executing that strategy by posting dynamic content and engaging with other users on the platforms.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a Communications and Media Studies major with an interest in the environment, specifically the transition to a circular economy and zero waste.  

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

Verbal and visual communication

Organized with attention to detail

Fluent in most social media platforms (particularly Instagram, and LinkedIn)  

Self-motivated and able to work independently 

Interest in the circular economy and the environment and a desire to learn

 

Hours per Week

Expected time commitment is 10-12 hours a week with some variability and flexibility. With the exception of a once weekly 1 hour meeting, the hours are mostly flexible and work may be done remotely.  Attendance at events will be encouraged.

 

Length of Internship

This is a part-time internship intended to occur during the fall semester, with flexibility to begin earlier and the potential to extend.  

Compensation will be $1,000 stipend for the semester with the potential of a bonus if the social media goals are exceeded.
