The Sonoma County Certified Farmers Market Group is seeking a Photography & Visual Storytelling Intern to help capture the energy, community, and local businesses that make our farmers markets special.
This is an unpaid internship designed to help students and aspiring photographers build their portfolios, gain real-world photography experience, and receive professional references. Academic credit can be accommodated when applicable.
Responsibilities
- Photograph vendors, products, customers, and market activities
- Capture candid community interactions and authentic market moments
- Take high-quality photos for social media, newsletters, websites, and promotional materials
- Edit and organize photos for digital delivery
- Attend farmers markets throughout Sonoma County and independently gather content
- Help visually document seasonal campaigns, special events, and community programs
Market Locations
Interns may be asked to photograph:
- Saturday Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market at the Luther Burbank Center
- Wednesday Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market at the Luther Burbank Center
- Sunday Cloverdale Certified Farmers Market in Downtown Cloverdale
- Guerneville Certified Farmers Market (seasonal)
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in photography, communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, graphic design, or related fields
- Experience using a camera or high-quality smartphone camera
- Basic photo editing skills (Photoshop, Canva, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail, composition, lighting, and storytelling
- Ability to interact professionally with vendors and community members
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to market locations
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Deliverables
- Attend markets approximately once per month per location
- Submit approximately 20 professionally edited photos from each market visit
- Provide a variety of images including people, products, vendors, food, community interactions, and market atmosphere
