Compensation: Unpaid for academic units (one, two, three or four units or more)
About the Role
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Social Media photo, video, writer, producer, and editor intern to support the Foundation’s social media educational content and marketing efforts. This internship offers hands-on experience in website production and content management from inception through final delivery. The intern will be working with our program managers and marketing teams. The ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling, comfortable with content gathering, editing, and posting on various social media platforms. The Intern needs to be self-directed and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Produce social media posts that include approved pictures and short video content for social media, websites, marketing campaigns, and internal use.
Assist with video production, editing, including pre-production planning, videography and setup as needed.
Collaborate with team members to develop video concepts, storyboards, and shot lists
Website organization, edit, and managing video/photo assets, footage, project files and web pages.
Add graphics, captions, sound effects, music, and basic motion elements as needed
Ensure posts align with brand guidelines, messaging, and deadlines
Support basic performance tracking (e.g., engagement metrics) and iterate based on feedback
Produce one acceptable short post per week that can be presented on the Foundation’s website. Postings are the property of the Foundation and can be used for marketing and/or as examples for fundraising.
All posts and videos will be submitted for review to the Class Instructor and the Foundation Board. The Foundation board will have final say on content and will be responsible for posting on Foundation sites.
Weekly Communication/meetings with Foundation Board Member concerning progress, schedule for Safari West site visits, concerns, and suggested edits.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in Communications or CINE at Sonoma State University with an interest and experience in Social Media, Film, Media Production, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
Proficiency in gathering content, storytelling, editing, and posting on various social media platforms.
Experience with posting on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X, and/or LinkedIn and/or and/or other approved Foundation websites.
Basic knowledge of social media, editing, and enhancement apps such as Cantina
Strong sense of pacing, visual storytelling, and attention to detail
Ability to take direction, incorporate feedback, and manage multiple projects
Compliance with Safari West and Foundation policies, procedures, and privacy policies.
Reliable, self-motivated, and eager to learn
Nice to Have
Experience creating content for social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, FaceTime, X, and/or LinkedIn)
Familiarity with cameras, video equipment, and editing software,
Portfolio or sample work demonstrating editing and storytelling skills
