Social Media & Marketing Intern Fall 2026 (hybrid one unit—45 hours)

Sonoma State University Art Studio Program

Are you passionate about art, storytelling, and social media? The Sonoma State University Art Program is looking for a creative and organized student to help showcase the incredible work of our students, faculty, visiting artists, and events through engaging digital content.

Position Overview

The Social Media & Marketing Intern will manage and grow the Art Program's online presence by creating compelling content for Instagram, Facebook, and other digital platforms. This internship offers hands-on experience in arts marketing, content creation, photography, graphic design, and event promotion while building a professional portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging social media content.

  • Photograph artwork, exhibitions, lectures, and campus events.

  • Produce short-form video content, including Reels and Stories.

  • Write captions, announcements, and promotional copy.

  • Develop content calendars and maintain a consistent posting schedule.

  • Promote exhibitions, lectures, workshops, student achievements, and special events.

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, student organizations, and the University Art Gallery.

  • Ensure all content reflects the mission and visual identity of the Sonoma State University Art Program.

Qualifications

  • Current Sonoma State University student (Artor Communications major preferred) Strong understanding of Instagram and other social media platforms.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software.

  • Photography and basic video editing skills are highly desirable.

  • Organized, dependable, creative, and able to work independently.
