Job Title: Video Editor & Producer Intern

Location: Remote / Hybrid / On-site –Safari West Zoological Society
Duration: Spring Semester (45 to 90 hours/1 to 2 units or more if you'd like)
Compensation: Unpaid for academic units and experience with celebrated wildlife organization
About the Role
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Video Editor & Producer Intern to support our content and marketing efforts. This internship offers hands-on experience in video production from concept through final delivery, working closely with our program managers and marketing teams. The ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling, comfortable with editing tools, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Edit short- and long-form video content for social media, websites, marketing campaigns, and internal use.
Assist with video production, editing, including pre-production planning, videography and setup as needed.
Collaborate with team members to develop video concepts, storyboards, and shot lists
Organize and manage video assets, footage, and project files
Add graphics, captions, sound effects, music, and basic motion elements as needed
Ensure videos align with brand guidelines, messaging, and deadlines
Support basic performance tracking (e.g., engagement metrics) and iterate based on feedback
Produce one edited short video per week that can be used for posting on the Foundation’s website, used for marketing, and/or used as an example for fundraising. Videos will be submitted for review to the Class Instructor and the Foundation Board.
Weekly Communication/meetings with Foundation Board Member concerning progress, schedule for Safari West site visits, concerns, and suggested edits.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in CINE or Communications at Sonoma State University with an interest and experience in Film, Media Production, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
Experience with posting on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X, and/or LinkedIn and/or and/or other approved Foundation websites.
Basic knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop, or similar tools is a plus
Strong sense of pacing, visual storytelling, and attention to detail
Ability to take direction, incorporate feedback, and manage multiple projects
Compliance with Safari West and Foundation policies, procedures, and privacy policies.
Reliable, self-motivated, and eager to learn
Nice to Have
Experience creating content for social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn)
Familiarity with cameras, video equipment, and editing software,
Portfolio or sample work demonstrating editing and storytelling skills
