Position: Program Internship
Job title: Public Relations Intern
Time commitment: 6-8 hours a week
Dates: Spring 2024 (January 2024- May 2024)
Common Ground Society’s Mission: We share the stories of our lives to educate and empower our
community to be more compassionate, accepting, and inclusive of people with disabilities. Common
Ground Society ensures that all families feel a sense of belonging through meaningful connections and
local support.
Job: We are a local grassroots organization dedicated to creating inclusion and belonging for people with
disabilities and their families. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2020.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining our social media accounts (Instagram @common.ground.society, Facebook
@CommonGroundSociety)
- Write image ID’s for social media posts
- Learning language associated with our niche
- Recruiting other families to share their stories on our page
- Grow our social media presence
- Maintain our Pinterest account
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Instagram/Facebook
- Understanding algorithms is a plus
- Currently enrolled at Sonoma State University with a 3.0 GPA or above
- Computer proficiency in Google Suite and data entry skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
- Ability to work effectively within teams and individually
- Comfortable working with people from a variety of backgrounds
Benefits: Although this position is unpaid, you will gain hands-on experience with developing a company
from the ground up and learn valuable public relations skills for the fast growing and ever changing social
media platforms. You will also learn how to be inclusive in society and the importance of DEI in society.
