Internships at THE SITTING ROOM LIBRARY (available for both the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters)

General Description: The Sitting Room Library is a special library open to all, with the Collection of over 7,000 books by and about women. Please see our Wikipedia entry and also our website (sittingroomlibrary.org) for information about our mission. If you enjoy fiddling around with books, doing research and archival work – with NO pressure & frequent tea/coffee breaks—please consider signing up for units. We are walking distance from campus.

Some of your duties will include:

-- getting the word out to others about our accessible and useful materials here;

-- giving tours of the library to people from the larger community.

(continued page two)

-- working with our librarians and curators, but youwill also be encouraged to initiate projects and even exhibits on your own.

This internship provides opportunities for learning more about such fields as library science, publishing, nonprofit work, writing, public speaking, docent work and office skills. And yes, the skills are transferable too.

Every task is educational and we learn from students interns at least as much as you will learn from working here

Come by for a tour of the premises if you are interested and we can get you in touch with previous interns if their experiences here would be of help to you in making the decision. Telephone J.J.Wilson at 707 795-9028 for an appointment or email her at boxcar@sonic.net, using in the subject line Internships at The Sitting Room Library.
